Mario Cosmo graduated, Summa Cum Laude, in Aerospace Engineering, in 1987. He presently works at the Italian Space Agency (ASI) where he is the Science and Research Director. Before joining ASI, Dr. Cosmo worked for over 20 years at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, Cambridge, Mass., U.S.A. where he has been involved in several NASA programs and international collaborations, like: Tethered Satellite System 1 and 1R, SEDS, the UV coronagraph onboard SOHO; the X-Ray telescope on board Hinode, and several other scientific space-borne payloads. Dr. Cosmo has been awarded the “Superior Performance Award” by the Smithsonian Institution in USA and the “Giuseppe Colombo” fellowship by the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei in Italy Dr Cosmo has authored a book and over a hundred scientific publications and technical reports and he is the reviewer of various scientific publications.
