Direttore della Pianificazione Strategica della Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), istituto di ricerca riconosciuto a livello internazionale nel campo dell’IA. Fellow della European Association for Artificial Intelligence, ha diretto il Centro di Ricerca di FBK per le Tecnologie dell’Informazione e della Comunicazione dal 2007 al 2020. Nel 2017 è stato nominato Chair del Comitato Strategico dell’European Institute of Innovation and Technology in ICT. Dal 2019 fa parte del Comitato Scientifico del DFKI (il centro di ricerca tedesco in Intelligenza Artificiale) e, dal 2018, del Comitato di Gestione del Lab. Italiano sull’Intelligenza Artificiale. Dal 2021 è coordinatore del progetto europeo di Intelligenza Artificiale per la Pianificazione Automatica (AIPlan4EU). Dal 2023 Leader del cluster del progetto PNRR “FAIR – Future Artificial Intelligence Research”. È autore e co-autore di numerosi articoli scientifici e due libri di testo per le università sull’IA e la Pianificazione Automatica.
Director of Strategic Planning of the Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), an internationally renowned center for research on AI. Fellow of the European Association for Artificial Intelligence, he was Director of the Center for Information and Communication Technology of FBK from 2007 until 2020. In 2017 he was appointed as Chair of the Steering Committee of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology in ICT. From 2019 he is member of the Scientific Advisory Board of DFKI (the German research center on Artificial Intelligence) and, from 2018, member of the Management Committee of the National Laboratory on Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems. From 2021 he is coordinator of the European project on AI for Automated Planning (AIPlan4EU). From 2023 he is Leader of the cluster of the PNRR Project “FAIR – Future Artificial Intelligence Research”. He is author and co-author of more than one hundred of scientific papers and two university textbooks on AI and Automated Planning.
